You must remember what Amalek has done to you, says our Holy Bible. Now go attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them. Put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. And we do remember, and we are fighting, our brave troops and combatants who are now in Gaza. He knows what he means. Despite all of that, there are people like Netanyahu, genocidal maniacs. Okay, racist, apartheid-driven genocidal maniacs who have the audacity to quote passages like this to commit atrocities in this world today. So you're saying that the Jews were prosperous under the Muslim ruling?

Prophet (saw) was saying "Muslims and Jews will make war towards the end of times, and even the trees will help the Muslims, saying there is a Jew behind me." So, so how do you reconcile these things? How did the Jewish people survive for more than a thousand years, under the rule of Islam as we've already explained? The best scholars, the best poets, the best politicians, the best philosophers, the best theologians and rabbis were born under the rule of Islam. Ottomans were a monster, militarily speaking, right? They could blow, and the Jewish people would disappear from the horizons. Assalamu alaikum, Brother Adnan Rashid. Thank you for coming and accepting our invitation.

We are very happy to have you again with us in Towards Eternity. Today we're going to have some questions about this conflict in Palestine and also about this ideology of Zionism. And since you're a famous historian, we want to clarify some issues with you. Okay. Thank you so much for having me, and I look forward to this conversation. So recently, Netanyahu quoted a verse from the Bible about the Amalekites. So many people don't know what this is. I know that the period he's talking about is close to the period when Moses and the Israelites were in the desert. What does Netanyahu mean by this, and what happened there?

Okay, Netanyahu, who is a mass murdering genocidal maniac, he referenced a passage from the Bible using the word Amalekites. Okay, now normal people, ordinary people may not know what this means, but when you actually go to the reference, it is a reference to an Israelite genocide of a people called the Amalekites. Or a reference to that genocide, or God commanding Moses to tell the Israelites to commit a genocide. And if you read the verse, which I will, it is very disturbing, okay? It is from the book of First Samuel, Chapter 15, Verse 3, and it goes as follows. Now go attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them.

Put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys. So this is not only a genocide of the human beings, not only a genocide of men and women, but also children. And not only children, but even infants, babies in cradles. Even they are not to be spared. Even animals that belong to the Amalekites are to be destroyed. Okay, so this is a genocidal reference in the Biblical text, which Netanyahu mentioned deliberately, quite knowingly. He knows what he means. Okay, so he's trying to tell the world that we are going to commit a genocide in Gaza. And this is exactly what Netanyahu and his cronies are doing right now. They are bombing hospitals.

They are bombing schools and colleges. They are bombing densely populated civilian areas, knowing well that in these buildings half the people are children. Because half the population of Gaza are children. And children are being pulled out of rubble. You can see children with missing heads, missing body, limbs, missing, you know... It's very disturbing when you look at those images. Children, you know, with tons of concrete and blocks and bricks on top of them. And then people have to remove those blocks to recover the bodies, shredded bodies, ripped apart bodies of infants and children. This is basically a genocide of a Biblical scale.

This is why it's very important for humanity to take inspiration and moral values from God, especially, you know, when these scriptures have to be, you know... the authenticity has to be checked. We don't believe, I don't, as a Muslim, I don't believe that God would have revealed command to commit a genocide. Because in Islam, in the Quran, we are told you cannot commit a genocide, it is a crime. You kill one innocent human being. It's like killing the entirety of humanity. This is why we are proud to be Muslims. I'm proud to be a Muslim because the Quran will never allow me to commit a genocide. I can never use the Quran to commit atrocities, kill women and children.

And if we go to the Prophet Muhammed (saw), his teachings specifically tell us that even in war, you Muslims, when you go to war, even in war, you cannot target women and children. This is Islam. This is why I'm a Muslim. I feel proud to be a Muslim because my book, the Holy Scripture that we know for sure is from Allah, from the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth has no human element in it. Okay? Because genocide is a human sentiment. Genocide is a human thing. Human beings do genocides, because they ignore all moral values, all instructions from God, all instructions from Prophets. And this is why they end up committing genocide.

So I believe that reference to the Amalekites in the Bible is not from God. It's human work. It is an interpolation. But the sad reality is that many Jewish and Christian historians have acknowledged that, that the Biblical text has been corrupted. It has been changed. It has been altered. We have many people who added to the Bible. Despite all of that, there are people like Netanyahu, genocidal maniacs, okay, racist, apartheid-driven genocidal maniacs who have the audacity to quote passages like this to commit atrocities in this world today. It is unbelievable. It is unreal. How can people even tolerate that?

And also in Islam we know that Allah says in the Quran, وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ (Al-Isra 70) "We honored and dignified every children of Adam." So this is the value that Islam gives to human beings, right? So if we talk about Islam in comparison, you know, the Quran honors human life. The Quran gives value to human life. The Quran cannot possibly justify genocide or the teachings of the Prophet (saw). That's why we do not find any examples of genocides in the history of Islam. We do not find any examples of Muslims, or Muslim armies committing genocides. Because, you know, the first people to stand against such actions would be the Ulama. The Islamic scholars.

As we have seen repeatedly, when someone commits a crime in the name of Islam, the first people to stand up are the Ulama to clarify the position of Islam, that this is not Islam, this cannot be Islam. Criminals cannot use the Quran to commit genocides. This is why I want the Jewish rabbis and the Christian scholars to stand up and say today to Netanyahu, "Not in our name, do not use our Scripture to commit genocide in Gaza and kill children." And you know, the Quran has many, so many examples. As you know, there is this verse. وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِىٓ ءَادَمَ (Al-Isra 70) Okay, so Allah (swt), He states that "We have honored the children of Adam." We have honored the children of Adam.

That includes the Jews and the Christians and the Muslims and everyone, every human being. In fact, we learn from the life of the Prophet (saw) that there was a funeral of a Jewish man and the Prophet stood up. The Prophet Muhammed (saw) stood up and his companions asked, "Ya Rasulullah, O the Prophet of Allah, you stand up for a Jewish funeral?" And the Prophet said, "Is it not a soul created by Allah?" Is it not a soul created by Allah? So these are the teachings we have to follow. And that's why we can discuss it. You know, we can discuss the history of Islam with the Jewish people as a point. And also on your on your point about Netanyahu, is he even a religious person? Good question.

Is Netanyahu a religious person? Or what about the establishment in Israel, the ruling establishment in Israel? Are they religious people? Absolutely not. How can you be a religious person and do these kind of crimes, or commit these kind of crimes? So are these Zionists religious people? They're not. They can't be religious people. They try to claim Judaism for themselves, but Jewish rabbis repeatedly disown them. Jewish rabbis clarify, just like the Muslim Ulama clarify when there's a crime committed in the name of Islam, Muslim Ulama come out and they condemn those actions and say look, these actions are not in our name, not in the name of our religion.

Likewise, there are Jewish rabbis around the world. They are condemning Zionism and the Zionists and the IDF and Netanyahu and his entourage. These people, some of them are atheists. They don't even believe in God. They believe in the promise of God for some reason. Okay? I mean, when you ask these Zionists, some of them who are atheists, do you believe in God? No we don't. Do you believe in his promise? Yes we do. Okay, so it doesn't make sense, it's ironic. They always claim right over this land because in the Bible we have been promised this land. Okay? This is such an absurd argument. It's unbelievable. By that virtue, all Western countries have to evacuate. Okay? All major...

The US has to be evacuated. It has to be given back to the Native Americans. Australia has to be given back to the Aborigines and Canadian First Nations, they must claim back their country from the Canadians And South Africans, you know... Look, there are so many examples. This idea is so absurd. It's unbelievable that you have a verse in the Bible that was possibly put down 2000 years ago for a different people. They weren't even... They weren't the same people. They didn't follow the same culture. Their religion was different. I can challenge any scholar of Judaism on the planet that their religion was different. They were a different people okay, who were promised this.

And the promise was made to the seed of Abraham. That means Ishmael and Ishak, both the father of the Israelites and the father of the Arabs. So the Arabs have as much right over this land as do the Israelites, if they want to use that passage in the Bible. Okay, so they are not religious people. They don't care about religion, they don't care about laws, they don't care about moral values. They don't care about decent ideas. They don't care about these things. If they did, they wouldn't be firing rockets into civilian buildings, killing thousands of children. So how did this all start? You know that this is a story of 75 years. Yeah. So can you tell us what happened from the beginning?

Okay, now that we have clarified that the Israelites were heavily persecuted by the Romans. Okay, and the Temple of Solomon, what we call Masjid Al Aqsa, was destroyed twice, first by the Babylonians, then by the Romans, and then it was never built again. And the Israelites were not allowed to live in the land of Palestine on pain of death. If they were found in Palestine, they would be killed on the spot by the Roman authorities. And then later on, Romans, as we know, became Christians. The Roman Empire, including the emperors, became Christians. So the Christian Romans also persecuted the Jewish people because they accused them of being the killers of God.

So the Israelites found themselves to be in a very difficult situation. Okay, throughout the history, when did they get respite? When did they feel a sense of ease and comfort and protection? When Islam came to power. Allahu akbar. A lot of people don't know this. A lot of people don't have an idea. You know, this recent Zionist propaganda, okay, has given this impression to the world that Muslims are inherently anti-Jewish. And because that is the case, we need a state for ourselves to protect ourselves. We need nuclear weapons, we need jets, we need weapons, we need technology to keep all these barbaric, bloodthirsty Arabs at bay. Okay?

Because if we don't have these things, they will come and eat us alive. They will destroy us. But it's actually the other way around. The reality is the other way around. What the Israelis are doing to the Arabs and the Palestinians in particular, is exactly what they are accusing the Arabs of trying to do to them. But there is no reality to it. Zionists, this is why I believe... Zionists are not only a bunch of liars, they are spin doctors and they are manipulative, malicious propagandists. Okay, I'm using these terms very responsibly, okay? Because I have reasons to say these things. And academics have written plenty of stuff on this. Who protected the Jewish people?

Who gave refuge to the Jewish people? I would like to quote one particular passage from an academic, an expert of Jewish history from Chicago. And what is his name? His name is Dean Phillip Bell. Dean Phillip Bell is a very, I mean, I can quote so many authorities, so many Jewish rabbis who pay lavish tributes to the Muslim civilization for protecting them, for giving them refuge, for giving them breathing space. You know, the best Jewish scholars, the best Jewish historians, the best Jewish intellectuals, theologians, rabbis, poets, politicians, generals, prime ministers, physicians, you name it. And the list goes on. Scholars, academics, translators, book producers, philosophers...

Best Jewish intellectual element was born during the Muslim period in Spain, in the Middle East, and even as far as Central Asia. The Jewish people found refuge under the rule of Islam for over a thousand years. And I will quote one particular scholar in this regard, okay? His name is professor Dean Philip Bell. He is the professor of Jewish history at Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies in Chicago. He states in his book Jews in the Early Modern World published in New York in the year 2008. On page 25, he states, and I quote, "Jews under medieval Islam never suffered from the same general negative perception as in Christian West.

Despite regional variations and high medieval political instability in medieval Islam, multicultural environments combined with active engagement in science and literature led to something of an Islamic golden age for the Jews, at least according to most historical accounts. It has been primarily in the context of recent political developments that the once assumed positive views of Jewish life under medieval Islam have been seriously questioned." So this professor of Jewish history from Chicago, a non-Muslim professor, he's writing that Jews lived under the protection of Islam throughout the Middle Ages, throughout the medieval period, which is like a thousand years.

And he's saying this was the golden age of the Jewish people. This is when the best Jewish scholars and luminaries were produced, including people like Musa bin Maymun, Musa Maimonides. Okay, he's known as Maimonides. He's known as the second Moses in Jewish history. So important is this man that he's known as the second Moses Who's the first Moses? The Prophet Moses, right? Who is the second Moses? Musa ibn Maymun, born in Cordoba in the 12th century. Died in Egypt in the 13th century. He died in the year 1204, in Egypt, under the Ayyubid rule. He was the private physician to the Sultan, Sultan Salahuddin. Sultan Salahuddin Ayyubi.

Musa bin Maymun, a Jewish physician, was the private physician of the Sultan. Okay, and we have poets like Judah Halevi, born in the Muslim lands in Spain. We had Samuel Ha-Nagid, okay, who was a prime minister, Hasdai ibn Shaprut, the prime minister to the most powerful Muslim king in the history of Western Europe, Abdul Rahman the Third, the caliph, the Umayyad caliph ruling from Cordoba, from the city of Cordoba in Spain. His prime minister was a Jewish man called Hasdai ibn Shaprut. Is this a profile of oppressed people? Suppressed people, persecuted people, marginalized people? Absolutely not. So Zionists are liars. They lie to the world.

So if the Muslims had this anti-Jewish policy the Zionists are claiming, if the Arabs wanted to commit a genocide against the Jewish people, they could have done it when they had the strongest armies in the world. The Ayyubids could have done it. The Mamluks could have done it. The Umayyads in Spain could have done it. The Abbasids could have done it in Baghdad. The oldest Jewish community in the world was in Iraq since the Babylonian exile. Some Israelite rabbis and scholars and communities remained in Iraq. And they remained even in the Muslim period, and they remained there until 1930s. Until the State of Israel was created.

And right after that, in the Spanish Inquisition, they had to leave Spain in 1492, and the Ottomans welcomed them, right? Thank you very much. Muslim empire. They came to these very lands, right? Absolutely. And you know what? It's so amazing that you mentioned that, that when the Jewish people had to leave Spain in 1492 after the Catholics, two monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, united by marriage, the rulers of Castile and Aragon, they took the last stronghold of Islam and Muslims in Spain called Granada. And as a result, hundreds of thousands of Jewish people were either killed or banished. Those who could escape with their lives and their families, where did they go?

Did they go to Christian Europe? Absolutely not. They came to the Muslim lands. They came to the Ottomans. And, you know, one case in particular, there is an Israeli Jewish scholar called Amnon Cohen. He studied the Ottoman court records from the city of Jerusalem sigil. I have recently done a podcast on this with Mohammed Hijab. You can go and see the details there in that podcast but I will quote his conclusion. Having studied these records, he writes in his conclusion, "No one interfered with the internal organization or the external cultural and economic activities." Talking about the Jewish people, in Ottoman Jerusalem.

"In a world where civil and political equality or positive social change affecting the group or even the individual were not the norms, the Sultan's Jewish subjects had no reason to mourn the status or begrudge the conditions of life. The Jews of Ottoman Jerusalem enjoyed religious and administrative autonomy within an Islamic state, and as a constructive, dynamic element of the local economy and society, they could and actually did contribute to its functioning." So what Amnon Cohen is saying that the Jewish people living in Jerusalem during the Ottoman period, many of whom came from Spain no doubt, having left Spain after the Catholics took Spain, they lived prosperously.

They flourished, they prospered, they became rich, they became affluent, they became very successful. And in fact, in this very book, Amnon Cohen writes that if a Jewish merchant or a Jewish citizen of Jerusalem had a problem with a Muslim governor or a Muslim administrator, he could simply complain to the Sultan, or to the highest authority in the land. And they would be given justice. This is a Jewish historian from Israel testifying to this. So you're saying that the Jews were prosperous under the Muslim ruling, but some people come up with this hadith of the Prophet (saw) saying that...

In this hadith, Prophet (saw) was saying "Muslims and Jews will make war towards the end of times, and even the trees will help the Muslims, saying there is a Jew behind me." So how do you reconcile these things? Okay, look, the hadith itself gives the answer. This is end times, okay? There will be wars. This is basically apocalypse. Or this is basically to do with eschatology. Eschatology basically is a study of the end times. This is about the end times. This is not the policy of the Muslims. Right? So the hadith clearly states that near the end times there will be people who will join the Dajjal, they will join the Antichrist. So when Dajjal comes, there will be people with him.

So when Isa (as) comes back, the second coming of Isa (as), he will fight the Dajjal, he will kill the Dajjal. And obviously whoever is with the Dajjal will also be killed, will also be fought. So anyone who stands with the Dajjal, whether it's a Muslim or a Christian or a Jew, okay, will be with the enemy, right? So this is about the end times. This is not the policy of Islam and Muslims. And if this was a policy of Islam and Muslims, if Muslims were inherently anti-Jewish or anti-Semitic, how did the Jewish people survive for more than a thousand years under the rule of Islam?

As we have already explained, the best scholars, the best poets, the best politicians, the best philosophers, the best theologians and rabbis were born under the rule of Islam from Iraq to Egypt, to Syria, to Libya, to Morocco, to Spain. How did these Jewish communities survive for so long, if Muslims had the same understanding of this hadith as some Zionist propagandists do? I mean, obviously the Zionist propagandists who use this hadith to claim that Muslims are inherently anti-Jewish. if that propaganda is true, if that understanding is true, my question is how did 90% of the Jewish people for a thousand years, survive with the Muslims?

Especially when the Muslims were at the peak of their power? The Ottomans with the armies? You know, the Ottomans ruled from Europe to the Middle East all the way to North Africa. This was one of the largest empires in the history of humanity. Ottomans were a monster, militarily speaking, right? They could blow, and the Jewish people would disappear from the horizons. But they kept the Jewish people in protection, as we have already seen that in Jerusalem, in Thessaloniki and in Constantinople they were flourishing Jewish quarters, and the Jewish people found refuge. I mean, I have so many... For example, let me read a quote to you in this regard.

How, I mean, Ottoman Empire, if we use the Ottoman Empire as a representative example of Muslim power. The Ottomans were very orthodox. They were Sunni Muslims. They followed the Sunni. They had read these hadiths. The Ottoman scholars knew these hadiths. The Ottoman sultans were very religious. We know so many sultans who were very, very religious. They were scholarly. They would study. If they had this Zionist understanding of this hadith, then why are we getting these rabbis? For example, Rabbi Yitzhak Sarfati writing in 1420. 1420, the Ottoman period, okay? "Your cries," talking to his German brethren, German Jews living in Germany at the time.

"Your cries and laments have reached us, and we have been told of all the sorrows and persecutions which you suffer in German lands. Listen, my brothers." This is a rabbi writing to his Jewish brothers and sisters in Germany. And he's writing from Ottoman territories. He says to them, "Listen, my brothers, if you knew even the 10th of what God has blessed us with in this land, you would give heed to no further difficulties. You would embark at once to us. Here the Jew is not compelled to wear a yellow hat as a badge of shame. You will be free of your enemies. Here you will find peace, in the Ottoman territories." Then we have...

We have so many other, you know, quotes from the Jewish rabbis and historians. I have a line of them. If this hadith was understood by the Ottomans just like the Zionists understand it today, there would be no Jewish people in the Ottoman Empire. But there were. We know how many there were, and how they prospered, as we have already stated. So what about the future of Islam? Many people, when they see the powerful faith of the Palestinian brothers and sisters, they said, "What kind of faith, what kind of religion is this?" And they were interested in Islam and the Quran. What do you think that... Do you think rise of Islam is on the horizon? Absolutely, absolutely.

When the world sees the resilience of the Palestinian people, the mothers of Gaza, you know, smiling with their children, you know, body parts of the children in the hands. And they're still saying, Alhamdulillah. They're still saying, "O Allah, thank you." "O Allah, thank you." You know, this drives shivers down the spines of the people who are watching all of this, right? They want to know that how can you have such strong belief in God, your Allah, okay, and still continue to believe in this, in the face of this kind of oppression and this kind of destruction? And because, you know, these people of Gaza, they have a belief that their children are going to Paradise.

They have been put through this, no doubt, but they're going to Paradise, and they will be with them in Paradise. And there is a God. There is no doubt that there is Allah, and Allah is just. Allah will do justice. There is a time for justice. Okay? It's again, it's a process. Allah's justice is a process, okay? Sometimes it's instantaneous. Sometimes it comes with some delay. But it will come, as the Quran says. That Allah's victory, Allah's help, is very, very close. So the people of Gaza have this level of faith, this level of iman, that they are encouraging and they are inspiring the whole world to read the Quran, because they read the Quran.

The Quran gives them the strength and this is why people are intrigued. They are curious that what is in the Quran that can drive a human mind to be so strong and so patient in the face of such barbarity? Where a father is looking at his child, his daughter, he is kissing her face when she's, you know, she's motionless, she's lifeless, she's passed away. And still smiling and saying, "This is Allah's will." This is my God's will. He is the one who gave me this child as a gift. He is the one who has taken it back. And He will replace my child with a greater gift for me, Inshallah. So this is the resilience that's causing a lot of people to read the Quran, and I believe that's also a positive.

If we look at it, of course, it's very painful to see all those children dying and all those people being pulled from the rubble, but again, there is a flip side to the coin that the world is waking up, Not only to the plight of the Palestinian people and how poorly they are treated by the world, by the civilized international community, but also to the strength of their faith through Islam and from the Quran. So, Brother Adnan, thank you for sharing your deep knowledge and insights. We benefited a lot from you. May Allah preserve your brother. Thank you so much.
