Imagine a hurricane uprooting even huge trees. The rain is falling with a terrible noise. Flood waters are taking hundreds of thousands of things away. You can't see your hand in front of your face and there is water everywhere. There is a huge ship in the water. It is clear that it is the work of a competent carpenter. But is this ship enough to save its passengers in the storm? No! What will save them is the belief in and love of Allah in their hearts. Who is their captain? Prophet Noah (pbuh), who lived for more than 950 years. This tall, long-bearded person, staring at the horizon is sure that he can survive this terrible storm.

80 believers are praying to their Supreme Lord in this terrible flood. There are not only people on the ship, but also pairs of different animal species and a variety of plants. Every living being on the ship is waiting for the flood to end. The flood is mentioned as follows in the Quran: "But We saved him (Noah) and the companions of the ship, and We made it a sign for the worlds!" The chapter of al-Ankabut, Verse 15 Prophet Noah is thinking of his son, whom he lost, while steering the ship in sweat. He has great pain in his heart. He remembers calling out to his son. "O, my son!

"I'll take refuge in a mountain; it will save me from the water," Hud, 43 said his son. Prophet Noah (pbuh) was saddened by the death of his son as a disbeliever, and his last words to his son were: "There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except on whom He has mercy." This event, which we read in the chapter of Hud in our Holy Book, became a source of lessons being told in many parts of the world. His 950 years of calling his people to believe in Allah and the great flood miracle are described, from Scandinavia to Australia, from the Incas to the Indians, in the narratives of many nations. It is mentioned in religious books. It has become the topic of stories and movies. According to a narration, the meaning of the name of Prophet Noah (pbuh) is "always weeping for Allah out of fear of Allah." That's the meaning of it. It is thought that Prophet Noah (pbuh) was born in the fertile land between the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers.

Prophet Noah (pbuh) was a descendant of Prophet Seth (pbuh), who was one of the children of Prophet Adam (pbuh) and his wife Eve (pbuh). His life stands out in the Qur'an for his struggle for tawhid oneness against his people, the ship he built and the deluge. He is known as one of the ulul-azm prophets, in other words, one of the prophets of the highest rank, one of the most strong will prophets.

"And We certainly sent Noah to his people, and he remained among them a thousand years minus fifty years." And the flood seized them while they were wrongdoers." The Chapter of al-Ankabut, Verse 14 Noah (pbuh), who was sent to the society as a prophet, called people to believe in the oneness of Allah and obey His orders until the end of his life; He invited everyone to tawhid. As it is mentioned in verse 59 of the chapter of al-A'raf, "We sent Noah to his people. He said: O my people! Worship Allah! You have no other god but Him. Fertile land that seemed to have no end and deep sleep of heedlessness from them... Let us mention a little bit about Prophet Noah's (pbuh) struggle against his people. During the time of Prophet Adam (pbuh), the Earth became full of life and the human species reproduced. After Prophet Idris Enoch (Pbuh), people worshipped Allah by following his shari'ah and they tried to follow the line of righteous scholars. But we are all mortal. When scholars gradually passed away, humanity fell into a void. Satan crept into people's minds and inspired them to make statues of those righteous people to pay them respect; but those statues were deified over time. The first idols emerged.

The following is stated in verse 23 of the chapter of Nuh: "And they said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr." Nuh, 23 Thus, for the first time in the world, people started to worship deities other than Allah and to associate partners with Him. These people, spoiled by wealth and well-being in that land, began to commit all kinds of sins openly while supporting one another in them. The rich knew no bounds in luxury and entertainment. Despite all this wealth and extravagance, rich people did not help the poor or needy. Moreover, they threatened to stone Noah (peace be upon him).

Amid all this distortion, Prophet Noah (peace be upon him) told his people about Allah day and night. He told them that the idols they took as deities were useless. He didn't want anything from them in return for calling them to the oneness of Allah. He only conveyed Allah's orders to them and continued his invitation. After a long struggle, He prayed to Allah when he saw that his people would not give up idolatry. "O, my Lord! I have called to my people night and day. But my calling added nothing but to their flight.

And indeed, whenever I invited them that You might forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with great arrogance." The Chapter of Nuh, verses 5-7 Prophet Noah (pbuh) began to build a ship on land as God Almighty instructed him. People started to talk about it. They made fun of him for building a ship in a landlocked region; they laughed at him. "There is no sea here; where will this ship sail?" They kept saying similar things. He kept building the ship. The notables of his tribe made fun of him whenever they passed by. "He said: 'If you make fun of us.

We will make fun of you as you make fun of us'." The Chapter of Hud, verse 38. Neither did they accept that prophethood came to Noah (peace be upon him) from Allah nor did they understand that Allah ordered him to build a ship. But Noah (peace be upon him) did not care about their mocking. He continued building the ship with great patience. He used his carpentry skills proficiently and finally the construction of that great ship came to an end. Almighty Allah ordered Noah to take all believers to that ship. He also told Noah to take a pair of every animal there, and told him not to feel sorry for his people; but Noah (peace be upon him) wept for them in his heart.

However, he built the ship that Allah ordered him to build. And it started to rain; the waters rose. Prophet Noah (pbuh) knew what would happen to those who did not embark on the ship and warned them for the last time. "He said: Embark it. It will sail in the name of Allah and cast anchor. My Lord is All-forgiving and All-merciful." Hud, 41 Those who disbelieved didn't heed these words either. They were drowned in the water. The ship of Prophet Noah (pbuh) was trying to move among the giant waves. On the day of the deluge, it was as if the sky had been split open and the earth had exploded. Spring waters were gushing from all parts of the earth.

The waves were so big that they became even higher than the mountains. The water rose several meters in the delta, All the idols, temples, granaries and houses of the disbelievers, and their pubs were swallowed together with them. All the Tigris and Euphrates deltas were under water. The waters of the flood were shaking Noah's ark. The believers watched, through the small windows of the ship, the water swallowing their proud cities and the destruction of the arrogant and cruel people. Those on the ship of Prophet Noah (pbuh) were not harmed by the flood. Did the Great Flood cover the entire earth or a certain region? There are different narrations about it.

Some scholars believe that water covered all parts of the Earth but other scholars believe that the flood affected only the region where the people of Prophet Noah (pbuh) lived. But if the issue is the power of Allah, the Lord of the worlds and all living beings, and when we talk about a miracle, it doesn't matter if it happened all over the world or in a small region. Both are possible. What matters is the lessons we can take from this incident. Finally, the flood was over. By order of Allah, the Earth drained its water, and the sky stopped pouring down water. The ship settled on the Judi.

Believers landed safely on fertile land because they believed in Noah (peace be upon him) and in the oneness of Allah. After all, does Allah ever leave those who believe in Him helpless? Those who didn't believe in Noah (pbuh) perished with their disbelief, sins and conceit. Everyone made their choice out of their free will and completed the test. And, of course, there are us whose test has not yet been completed. We also make our choices out of our free will. Some of us follow the way of our Prophet (pbuh) while others turn to other ways. Some of us take lessons from the story of Noah (pbuh) while others say, "It's just a finished event in the past", and ignore it.

But one way or another, our test on the ship of the world sailing in this sea of space will end one day. Maybe we will not encounter an incident like Noah's Deluge, but the time of death will surely knock on our doors. None of us will walk on the ground in 100 years and when death knocks on our doors, our belief in Allah and our surrendering to what the Prophet (pbuh) commanded will save us. The main question is this: Will we be like those who believed in Prophet Noah (pbuh) and our Prophet (pbuh)? Or will we be losers like those who were drowned in water? Is it not high time to think and to reflect and see how we spend our lives?
